Princess Victoria Mews
The design of this 2 bedroom mews house has been carfully considered to ensure it sensitively responds to the context in which it sits - namely upon the rear courtyard of a grade ii listed building and within a conservation area.
The existing boundary stone walls around the site are to be retained and reinstated to strengthen the sense of enclosure to the rear courtyard. The sitting of the proposal against these walls reinforce the intimate nature of the courtyard, with the massing and eaves of the proposal kept low to ensure it does not dominate the site. This is paired with the careful positioning of windows to respect the amenity of the existing dwellings whilst also ensuring the occupants can enjoy dual aspect living,
The materials have been carefully chosen to reflect the traditional material palette within proximity and naturally weathering materials. That said, the form and detailing of the proposal will ensure the development is contemporary, allowing it to be read as a new later within the history of the site.
Despite the tight footprint of the site, the property provides generous living accommodation across two floors The kitchen/ diner opens up to the garden area, and the first floor living room benefits from the south facing windows and an open roof space.
The development receuved planning and listed building consent in early 2025 and we look forward to the project starting in 2026.
