Malago Scholar Quarters

Working as project architects we have led Malago Scholar Quarter through concept, planning and technical design and have witnessed the construction on site.

The project has seen the redevelopment of a former car showroom in Bedminster, and created 49 student bedspaces within 12 studio flats and 7 cluster flats. To the ground floor a commercial unit has also been created, helping to ensure the active frontage is retained to West Street.

The accommodation is divided across two blocks, with both constructed using the BEWI Thermomur ICF system (insulated concrete formwork). This helped to speed up the construction process, which was particularly beneficial due to the tight site with ongoing access required through it. It has also ensured the thermal performance of the property is high, ensuring the residents enjoy a conformable environment whilst keeping energy usage low.
